3) COMMUNITY GROUP HAPPENINGS - NEW BEYOND THE ORDINARY INTERVIEW WITH SUSAN BURNS

On 3/22/06, following the 3/20 IONS Community Awareness event with IONS VP of Research and Education, Marilyn Schlitz, PhD, and 3/21/06 Seattle IONS cosponsored event on the Science of Intuition, Susan Burns went to the IONS campus for more discussion on IONS evolving new strategic plan. This time IONS regional community group reps (all 3 Councils: Elder, World, and Network) met together concurrently and with IONS staff. We discussed the community group’s new vital role in the revised strategic plan of IONS. And the community network decided on some global community group initiatives along with supporting new initiatives of IONS. The dates and details for these initiatives will soon be released to community group coordinators. (By the way, Jean Houston was concurrently leading a Social Artistry workshop on the campus with IONS President James O’Dea and we bumped into many IONS friends there, including Jean Houston.)

On 3/17/06, prior to all these happenings, our friends and community group members, Nancy and Elena of Beyond the Ordinary radio, interviewed Susan Burns. The interview presents a good discussion on the principals of aligning to right action. We also discuss the upcoming 3/22-26 Summit of IONS network reps described above. The history of how the IONS community group network is aligned to IONS is shared. And we discuss how the community groups have self organized and transformed to become vital to IONS new mission of advancing consciousness and global transformation. The interview can be heard at: http://www.beyondtheordinary.net/susanburns.shtml

8) SACRED ACTIVISM CONFERENCE, MAY 11-14, SEATTLE, sponsored by Wisdom Univsersity, cosponsored by The Institute of Noetic Sciences NW and many other local organizations.

Sacred Activism Conference
May 11-14th
Lynnwood Convention Center
www.wisdomuniversity.org

Dear Friends (from Victor Bremson)

Here is a chance to let the real 'sacred activist' inside of you to emerge.  This is the moment that the Hopi Elder talked about when he said--"All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.  We are the ones we've been waiting for."

The purpose of this conference on Sacred Activism is to take a stand for progressive values and to galvanize a deeper connection between our spiritual practice and social action.  Paul Ray has written that there are 50,000,000 'cultural creatives' hidden from each other somewhere in the US today.  This conference is part of a wave that will allow the influence of this incredible group to emerge.   Nothing less than the future of America and the fate of the earth are at stake. Sacred Activism in the 21st Century requires a maximum effort at engagement and reconciliation in order to respond to the fractionalization and wounded ness within our society. Organizing now for significant political change is also a requirement if a new sacred center is going to emerge to face the major crises facing our country and planet.

This conference includes more than just inspiring speakers and brilliant teachers.   We intend to engage heads and hearts. There will be deep analysis of what we can do to bring about profound change but we will also sing, do yoga, network, reflect, hear poetry, watch liturgical dancing, view art and groove to the gospel music of The Total Experience Gospel Choir.

Here are some major highlights of the conference.  See the website or brochure for complete details:

Thursday Day Time-----Join two extraordinary teachers--- Caroline Myss and Andrew Harvey for an incredible one day intensive entitled Sacred Activist as Mystic, Warrior and Healer.    The admission does not include attendance at the Thursday evening conference-opening event.

Thursday Evening---- The two day conference opens Thursday night with an incredible array of keynote speeches including:   "Stop the War in Iraq", Cindy Sheehan, social activist.     "A Contemporary Look at Urban Concerns", Sheley Secrest, President Seattle King Co. Branch of NAACP.    "Environment, Race and the Future of America", Robert Kennedy Jr., Senior  Attorney, Natural Resources Defense Council.    "The Sacred Activist", Caroline Myss, PhD  and   "The Mystic Teachings of all Ages",  Mystical Scholar Andrew Harvey

Note we will be selling tickets separately for the Thursday night event.

Friday----The day includes 4 keynotes including:   "Bringing Back the Center - Mobilizing for the 2006 & 2008 Elections",   Marianne Williamson  "Sacred Activism in a World Where Little is Held Sacred", Rev. Kathianne  Lewis, Pastor, Center for Spiritual Living.    "The Challenge of Deep Hope", Dr. Bill Grace.   "Overcoming Chaotic Compartmentalism: Building New Communities of Diversity With Integrity Among Progressives",  Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan Jr. Regional Minister & President for the NW Region of the Christian Church  (Disciples of Christ)

Friday's conference  includes 9 major panels and 18 workshops on a full range of topics such as interfaith spirituality, social justice, the media, sustainability, integral wisdom, healing, communication skills, wisdom traditions, movement and the new economy.  We end the evening with a special award program for individuals who have demonstrated sacred activism within our community.

Saturday-includes 4 keynotes including:  "The Wisdom Civilization", Walter Link, International Businessman.  "A New Covenant with America",  Rabbi Michael Lerner.  "A New Political Compass for America",  Author Paul Ray of "The Cultural  Creatives. "Re-Imagining the Future", Jean Houston, mythologist and philosopher.

Saturday's morning conference includes 3 more major panels and 6 more workshops.  In addition Saturday afternoon we will move into a facilitation following Paul Ray's discussion around his ideas for a New Political Compass for America.  The facilitation will give us all a chance to take some of the teachings of the conference into deeper places.

Saturday Evening is celebration time. We will start it off with a wine and appetizer party.  Jean Houston will do a major keynote event and then we will turn the evening over to our artists including Linda Allen, Betsey Beckman, Collette Van Praag  and Rev. Pat Wright with her Total Experience Gospel Choir.

And Sunday---- Jean Houston will do an all day intensive entitled "The Divine Feminine at the Gateway to the Wisdom Civilization".  We call this the perfect Mother's Day Present.   Consider finishing the day with a late afternoon visit to the Olympic Spa- just across the parking lot.

Help the 'sacred activist' inside of you to emerge.  Attend the conference.

Victor Bremson
