Description:

We will usher in the 2006 New Year with a Sufi meditation and dances of Universal Peace. Salima Carol Asmann will lead us in meditation and the dances. Cedorn Sterling will be our gifted musician.

Salima Carol Asmann will lead breath and heart focused meditation practices from the Raphaelite Work™. Life calls us moment by moment to choose awakening or remaining asleep. The practices offered are meant to 'keep in a pocket',  restoring the system so we can choose from a deep place of resource in each moment. Practicing presence to the immediate condition of our physical, emotional, mental, moral, and spiritual bodies engenders in us more space, creativity and 'transformation with a small t'. Finally we will move into dancing a few dances of universal peace (this is simple, sweet body prayer, no prior experience required), staying present to the breath and the heart in motion, in life.

Salima Carol Asmann
Salima Carol Asmann, LMP  is a member of the Sufi Healing Order founded by Hazrat Inayat Kahn.  She has studied the Raphaelite Work™ with Himayat Inayati for over a decade and shared his meditation and self-healing practices with small groups locally. She offers Raphaelite Work™  physical energetic sessions and one-to-one processing sessions.  Salima also helps lead the Seattle Dances of Universal Peace Circle.

Cedron Sterling
Cedron Sterling is a gifted multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, & composer. Since 1978, he has partnered with his wife N'Shama Radha Sterling performing Medieval, Elizabethan, Celtic, and original music throughout California, Oregon, & Washington.

In 1989, he turned his attention to providing musical support for the Dances of Universal Peace at regular Seattle Dance meetings and regional retreats initially through guitar, and later piano, bouzouki, recorder & Irish whistle.

Cedron's greatest joy in playing for the Dances
remains the internal practice of attunement & devotion to the quality each Dance evokes, and its outer expression of support for leaders and dancers
through musical refinement.

More on the Raphaelite Work

Named for the archangel Raphael, the angel of Healing and Science, the Raphaelite Work is a meeting of science and spirit. This work integrates ancient Sufi teachings, wisdom from other spiritual paths, as well as insights from modern depth psychology, scientific research, and modern clinical practice. The work was founded by Himayat Inayati, head of the Sufi Healing Order, to transmit his discoveries from more than 25 years seeking the basis of healing. It is an expansion of the teaching of Hazrat Inayat Khan, who brought Sufism to the West in 1910, and founded the Sufi Order International and the Sufi Healing Order. The Raphaeli
te Work is appropriate and accessible for anyone who is open to healing through Spirit, whether it is called God, or by another name.

The Raphaelite Work™  is a spiritual approach to healing and transformation for self and others. Through touch, breath, and presence, the Raphaelite Work addresses the wholeness of human existence and its five domains of human experience: physical, emotional, mental, moral, and spiritual. Through presence the five domains can be restored to their natural tone. A new and more fully integrated sense of self can emerge. Natural tone is the state of balance that represents optimum vitality for a person. This balance is unique to each person and changes over time. Without judgment or manipulation, an individual develops an increased sense of spaciousness. Space, in turn, allows the natural process of restoration and transformation in each of the five domains.  For more information go to http://www.sufihealingorder.org/raphaelite.htm  and click on: the Raphaelite Work™.
