Please join us for our February 11, 2008 Greater Seattle IONS Community Group (GSICG) Program. This event is aligned with IONS Quest for Global Healing programming that "explores how to deal with wounds created by conflict, collective trauma and
large-scale oppression."

Our presenter is Phil Lane Jr., M.Ed, M.P.A.  Phil is the Chief Executive Officer of United Indians of All Tribes Foundation. He is a co-founder of the Four Worlds family of organizations. He is a Native American (Dakota-Chickasaw) who is both a traditional pipe carrier and sweat lodge keeper and an internationally acclaimed leader in human and community development.

He has worked with Indigenous peoples (and many others) in North and South America, Micronesia, Southeast Asia and Hawaii. He is an award-winning film producer. In 1992, Phil received the prestigious Windstar Award, presented annually to an individual whose personal and professional life exemplifies commitment to a global perspective, operates with an awareness of the spiritual dimensions of human existence, and demonstrates concrete actions and benefits to human beings and the earth. In 2000, Phil was awarded the Swiss Foundation for Human Rights annual Human Rights Award in recognition for his outstanding work on behalf of Indigenous people's rights.

Phil holds Masters degrees in both public administration and education. He served on the faculty of The University of Lethbridge, Alberta Canada for fifteen years and led the genesis of Four Worlds as a research project during those years.

We will view the documentary "Healing The Hurts".  This dynamic and heartfelt film documents the devastating effects of the Indian boarding schools that dramatically shattered aboriginal culture, children, families and communities throughout North America. Viewers join Native American participants from Canada and the United States, during a four-day culturally-based healing process for understanding and recovering from this type of traumatic experience.

Using the IONS framework, we will view "Healing The Hurts", listen to Phil's comments, reflect, learn and discuss global healing.

We meet at the East Shore Unitarian Church in the North Room located at 12700 SE 32nd Street. The church is in the Factoria area of Bellevue, just off Richards Road near I-90. Driving directions are linked above.

Please arrive at 6:30 for networking. We will begin the program at 7:00 pm and end at 9:15 pm.

We request participants to share meeting costs by donating $5.00-$10.00 for room rental.

Thank you for your interest and support of the IONS mission: Advancing the science of consciousness and human experience
